Under Federal Law, the IRS requires you to keep copies of your tax returns and supporting documentation for at least three (3) years. However, in circumstances where the IRS suspects a significant reduction of underreported income or believes there may be fraud, they may review six (6) years or more resulting in an audit.
If you e-filed your tax return using Direct Deposit it will normally take 7 to 10 business days. Alternatively, if you e-filed your tax return with the expectation to receive by check in mail, it will take two to three weeks. If you paper-filed, this method will take up to eight weeks.
